The County of Hawai‘i will receive a $6.862 million grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's (HUD) Community Development Block Grant-Mitigation (CDBG-MIT) program.

Funds must support projects identified as a Hazard Mitigation Action in the County’s 2020 Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan. Eligible mitigation activities are defined as projects that increase resilience to disasters and reduce or eliminate the long-term risk of loss of life, injury, damage to and loss of property, and suffering and hardship, by lessening the impact of future disasters.
