SOLID WASTE CLOSURES IN EAST HAWAIʻI
TODAY, DECEMBER 31, 2019:
• Glenwood Transfer Station
• Pāhoa Transfer Station
• Hilo Scrap Metal and White Goods Services
• Keaʻau Green Waste, Scrap Metal, and White Goods Services
Glenwood Transfer Station. Due to a staff shortage, the Glenwood Transfer Station closed at 8:00 a.m. today, December 31, 2019. It is scheduled to reopen on Friday, January 3, 2020, from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Until 6:00 p.m. today, residents can take their household generated waste to the Keaʻau Transfer Station, which is open seven days a week from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., or to the Hilo Transfer Station, which is open seven days a week from 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Pāhoa Transfer Station. Due to a staff shortage, the Pāhoa Transfer Station closed at 8:00 a.m. today, December 31, 2019. It is scheduled to reopen on Thursday, January 2, 2020, from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Until 6:00 p.m. today, residents can take their household generated waste to the Keaʻau Transfer Station, which is open seven days a week from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., or to the Hilo Transfer Station, which is open seven days a week from 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Hilo Scrap Metal and White Goods Services. Due to a staff shortage, these services are closed today. They are scheduled to reopen on Thursday, January 2, 2020, from 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
